" STAMP ACT, 1875." TRANSFERS OF SHARES. "I T is hereby notified, that, after the Ist ot A January 1876, the use of Impressed Stamps upon Transfers of Shares is compulsory, but transfers of shares may be stamped at a Stamp Office by the Commissioner or a Deputy Commissioner within one month after execution without a fine. Managers and Secretaries of Companies, Sharebrekers, and others interested, are re' commended to forward, without delay, soeh forms of transfer as they may require to be impressed, accompanied by the tuinal requiai» tion and receipt from the Bank of -NejavZealand for amount thereof, less.the authorised discount. Information may be obtained at any Stamp . Office. The provisions of the Act relating hereto are as follow :— " 47. (1.) Except where express provision is made to the contrary, all duties ire to be denoted by impressed stamps only." . " 102. No transfer of any share or share* of or in the stock or funds of any corporation, company, or society whatever in New Zealand shall be registered, recorded, or entered in the books of such corporation, company, or society, unless such transfer is.duly stamped* "103. No instrument ot sale or transfer o< any share or shares shall be vatfd, either at law or in equity, unless the name of the purchaser or transferee is inserted therein at the time of or before the ezeo « tion of the instrn ment of sale or transfer j and, if any parson - executes a sale^note, transfer, contract-note, or other instrument of sale or transfer, in any manner, or for any purpose whatsoever, on* less the name of the purchaser is inserted therein at the time or before the execution thereof, he shall forfeit a sum of not leas than £20 or more than £100 j and, if any such instrument, is to made or signed, it «h#U be wholly and absolutely roid and inoperative, and shall in no case be made available by the insertion of a name or any other partieulari afterwards i and the person selling ©r trans* ferring such share shall not be divested ef nil interest therein, bat shall / remain liable thereon as if he had never sold or disposed ot the same. And if such person is a lioeased sharebroker, his license shall, on any conviction under <his section, be absolutely forfeited, and he shall not thereafter be qualified to act as a broker, or to have a fresh license issued to him. • ' " 104. No iharebreker, auctioneer, commission agent, «r any other person shall be entitled to any brokerage, commissiea, or any other fee or reward in respect of the sale or transfer of any such share, unless the instrumeat of sale or transfer is filled n witk all necessary particulars to make it a eon* plete instrument, and is duly stamped.
