CKICKET.

Thames Cbickbt Club t. Union Cbicket Club. Yesterday, notwithstanding the rather! threatening aspect of the weather, there was a good number of spectators at the Parawai Gardens to witness the cricket match between the second eleven of the Thames Club and eleven picked from the ranks of Union Cricket Club. There was a first rate wicket, and the day proved much better than was expected, so that the game was a very enjoyable one on the whole. -The greatest unanimity prevailed. The match resulted in. a victory for the Thames Club in one innings, with runs to spare. The fielding of the Union boys was rather loose, but by the manner that some of them trundled the leather and handled the willow a little practice should develop them into a good average team. An excellent lunch was provided on the ground, and Mr Murphy, with his usual bon hommie, kept every one amused. A' return match will be played shortly. The following were the scores :— Union.—First Innings; A. McMillan, run out, 11 ;" J.
