Thames Goldfield Hospital.
The usual monthly meeting of the committee of this institution was held at the Salutation Hotel yesterday afternoon. Present—Mr J. Frater. President, Mr McCullough, Vice-President, Mr Hudion, Treasurer, the Eevs. S. J. Neill, PP. O'Bielly, J. T. Hinton, Messrs Wilson, Daviea, Comer, Mcllhone, D. Miller, Gudgeon, Murray, Ahier, McGowan and Ehrenfried. MINUTES. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. , house committee's bepobt. The report of the House Committee was read as follows :—" The nurse of the female ward tendered the resignation of her appointment on the 9th October, and the committee obtained the services of Mrs Lawrence, a person who appears to be competent to fill the office, and is giving satisfaction. We have much pleasure in reporting that the accident ward is empty, and the number of sick patients for hospital treatment is very much smaller than has been the case for a long time." The report was adopted. HOUSE BUBGEON'a BEPOBT. The report of this officer was read and T^Btbeasubeb's bepobt. ThiP^>ort of tlie Hon. Treasurer was read as follows .--To balance, £283 0s lid; subscriptions, £20 8s; donations, £2 2« 3d; patients' charges, £6 2s 6d ; Government subsidy, £250; amount overbanked, 6d j total, £56116s 2d. Expenditure.—Cr. :By salaries, £56 2s ; maintenance, £32 9s sd; medical comforts, £2 18s ; drugs and appliances, 9s ; furniture, £2 Is sd; commission, £l 5s 9d; miscellaneous expenses, 12s 4d ; balance Bank of New Zealand, £465 17s 3d; total, £561 15s 2d. Liabilities: To salaries, £64 15s; general, £62 5s Id; balance, £238 16s 8d; total, £465 16s 9d. j By bank balance, £465 16s 9d—£465 16s ; 9d.
The report was adopted. THE ANNUAL DEMON SLBATION. The President intimated that the tary had written to the various Friendly Societies asking them to assist in getting up the Annual Hospital Demonstration. The Secretary stated that at a meeting of the Friendly Society delegates the advisability of holding the demonstration bad been affirmed. ' After some discussion it was decided that the matter be postponed till they knew what societies proposed doing. SPECIAL CONSULTATION. The President said at a special consultation of the medical staff, Dr Eilgour had been asked to attend, and had done bo most willingly, and had promised to attend at the Hospital when he conTeniently could, though he did not wish to be on the medical staff. He suggested that the Committee should thank Dr Kilgour. .-' ' J? Mr McCullough endorsed the remarks of the President, saying that Dr Kilgour had met the Committee in a very fair apirit. The Her. J. T- Hinton moved that Dr Kilgour be cordially thanked for his seryicas in the recent consultation on McKelvie. Mr Hudson seconded. Carried. Mr Mcllhone proposed that should any case arise where additional medical advice is required, the President be empowered to obtain it. Mr McCullough teconded. Carried. MEDICAL STAFF. A letter was read from Dr. E. H. T. Gilbert resigning his position on the Medical Staff, as he had not time to attend to it. The resignation was accepted. APOLOGIES. The absence of the Key. S. Bunn, Measri Mulligan and Aitken was apologiaed for. HOUSE COMMITTBE. The following were appointed House Committee for the ensuing month:— Messrs Ahier, Aitken, Wilson and the Key. Father O'Eeilly. AN OLD PATIENT. The President said there wa» an old female inmate of the Hospital who waa past curing. She had a daughter at Mahurahgi, and was willing to go and reside if her passage there was paid. The sum of 25s was collected in the room to pay for the old woman's passage. This was all the business.
