EEPOBT OF BOABD OF WCBIS.
The report of the Board. of Works showed that men had been kept constantly employed on the Tapu road to make it passable for traffic. The Collarbone Creek road had been rendered passable for drays, and quartz had been carted over it. The lower part of Karaka road had been repaired and improved. The further extension of this road^io the foot of Lord Nelson wire tram wajr would be a great boon to Te Papa Gully miners. The Board had instructed the ■urveyor to proceed with the construction of a dray road from the old Una workings toone of the main roads. The Board recommended the construction of a dray road up the lower portion of the Te Papa Gilly. The surveyor had beeninstructed to lay off the Sauaerangft Valley road through Mr Stevens property. On the Ohinemuri road the damage done by the winter traffic had been repaired, and a gravel pit opened near Kerikeri.the material front which was fitted for road purposes. About 30 men had been employed stone breaking. The report concluded as follows:—" Surveys are now being made for the construction of a branch race to convey the water from the Mangakirikiri Creek into main race, and also for the extension of main race from the reservoir in the WaioKaraka to the Moanatairi Creek. The most important part of the latter work is a tunnel 1350 feet in length through the spur between the Waio-Karaka and Waiotahi Creeks, and as this will take the greatest length of time in construction your Board has called for and received tenders for this work."
