This day. The Government have commenced to act upon the recommendation in the report of the committee whjch inquired into the charges made against Wellington police, and which recommended the periodical removal of all police Inspectors from one city to another. Inspector Atchison has in consequence been notified that he is to be sent to Nelson. His successor is not yet named.'
A vote for the widow of the late Captain Kelly of two hundred and fifty pounds is included in the Appropriation Act. Wednesday.
A banquet is to be given to Mr Eowe, M.H.8., on Friday night, and a large number of tickets have been sold. Mr Sheehan and several other members of Parliament will probably be present. A large capitalist from England is at present on a visit to Patea and Taranaki with a view of making extensive land purchases.
