WELLINGTON.
Thursday. The Supreme Court has been occupied until 10-day over the action for libel brought by Messrs Blundell Bros., proprietors of the Evening Post against Robert Gardiner, late proprietor of the Evening Chronicle. Although Mr Gardiner has left the colony, and is not connected with the Chronicle, the new proprietors of that paper defended the action. Mr Travers appeared for the plaintiffs, and the Attorney-General, instructed by Messrs Moorhouse and Edwards, for the defendants. The Chief Justice presided. The jury, after an absence of about an hour, returned a verdict for the plaintiffs; damages, £5. The Attorney-General gave notice that he should, after the sittings ,of the Court, appear to move that the verdict of the jury be let aside, ou the ground that three of the issues were answered ; l favor of the defendants.
