Nevesville, Tuesday.
A considerable change has taken place for the better in this district these last three weeks, a number of gum-diggers having located themselves in the vicinity of Mr G. Clotworthy's store, and they have done remarkably well. Mr Clotworthy's spirited enterprise in raising the gum to forty shillings per cwt has had the desired effect, and is bringing diggers from all parts of the surrounding districts. They avenge two cwt per week, which is sufficient to keep four horses continually packing to and from Puriri. The fine weather has considerably improved the Nevesville main track but the road leading to the Tairua landing is in a deplorable condition, though. we are glad to observe that soms little repairs are being done just now , There is some talk of the. Alma Company's mine being again woilke^/l on tribute, but there are grave doubtia-^f its being a success; nothing less than a low level will ever again bring this property into favorable repute. , ...
