LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL.
WELLINGTON.
Wednesday. In the Council to-day the members of Parliament residing in and near Wellington were appointed, with the Chairman of the Joint House Committee, to be the committee during the recess. The District Railway Act Amendment was read a third time and pasted. The Fozton Reserve, Newmarket Be* serves, and Norsewood Mechanics Institute Bills were read a second time, as was also the Wanganui High School Bill (all four without any opposition). The Patea Harbor Bill was read a third time and passed. The Council then went into committee, when the Foxton Reserves, Norsewood Mechanics' Institute, Newmarket Reserves, Timaru Harbor Board, Welling-
ton College Amendment, Chris tchurch Boy's High School (after considerable discussion on the second clause), Wanganui High School. Oamaiu Harbor Board, and Napier Harbor Board Bills were considered, amended, and reported. A. message was received from the House of Representatives insisting on their amendments in the Sheep Bill. The matter was referred to a free conference to be .held to-morrow
The Council then (at 5.30) adjourned till next day.
