A BRIGHTON "ROMANCE."
Tbere is generally some romantic event connected with fashionable sea-side resorts during the " season." Brighton, as you are aware, has four seasons, and this year is no exception to the rule. Not many days'ago an elderly couple, accompanied by a charming niece about eighteen years of age, took a furnished cottage within convenient distance of the sea-side, and shortly after their arrival Mr G. added to the many luxuries provided for his young charge that of a splendid pair of cream-coloured ponies ana a charming vehicle. The aged pair and their charming companion became the theme of every cirole. As usual there are always " watchers " for such chances, and about a fortnight ago a gallant " swell" ingratiated himself into the little domestic circle, and it appears has ended by carrying off the rash and too confiding girl. Doubtless the police may solve this difficulty, but surely charming young girls •hould not allow themselves to be so easily duped by heartless scamps. It is likely we shall hear more of this distressing affair.—Belfait Evening Telegraph.
