Late Mining Accident.
Death, of McEelvi© and Inquest.
The unfortunate victim of the late mining accident in the Queen of Beauty died at an early hour this morning, the injuries he received having been much more serious than at first appeared. An inquest on the body, was held at three o'clock to-day in the Salutatation Hotel before Dr Kilgour, coroner, and a jury, of which Mr J. H. Jefferson was chosen foreman. Mr Sub-Inspector Bullen conducted the proceedings for the Crown, and Captain Goldsmith, Mining Inspector, was also in attendance. The Coroner suggested a post mortem examination of the body of deceased, but the jury did not consider it necessary, and the evidence was proceeded with, being that of deceased's mates and others, particulars of which have appeared. The inquest is still proceeding.
