The Wesleyan Board of Missions held a meeting to consider the report of the Eev. Mr Brown's reprisals on the natives for the massacre at New Britain, and carried a resolution expressing sympathy with his difficult position, but regretting that there was no other course open to him to Secure the safety of himself and party than that taken.
The Roman Catholics of Sydney are using great exertions to erect a cathedral, which it is estimated would be sufficiently advanced to use by an expenditure of £15,000.
The reason assigned by the Marine Board for suspending the certificate of the captain of the City of Newcastle was, that although all precautions had been taken he should not have gone into hit cabin when so near port.
