MOANATAIRI.
The No. 1 reef in the tunnel ia now five feet thick, but as it is poor the manager hopes, however, that its displacement by a slide now coming will improve its quality. To-day the Point B,ussell rise was resumed, it having been suspended last week to enable the rise and level to be timbered up. Sub-joined is the mine, manager's usual weekly r"report:—"The rise against Point Russell winze, and also the level, are being timbered up to secure the ground; and rising will be resumed on Monday. Tunnel Level.—-Ih a driving west No. 1 reef is five feet thick.' There is now the appearance of a small slide: crossing the lode, which will; I hope, change it for the better. The sinking of the engine shaft has been let; by contract at £3 10s per foot, including the fixing of timber, guides, &c, and fair progress is being made. During the past fortnight 290 tons of quartz have been crushed, yielding 208ozs retorted gold. The drive on No. 2 reef at 80 feet level west has been suspended for a short time in order to put up a rise over main slide to pick up the point of the reef. In the six new tributes recently let 24 men have set to work with vigor.—I remain, yours &c, Eobt. Comee."
