ADJOtJENED MEETING.

The adjourned meeting of this Council was held at the Council Chambers to*day at 12 o'clock. There were present—the M>yor, Crs Brassey, Mennie, Hansen, Wilson and. Speight. | The Mayor said that they were simply present to formally adopt the report of the committee appointed to make arrangements for the granting of an advance to the Harbor Board., The Report of the Committee ap- : pointed to confer with the Thames Harbor Board re the employment of men out of work on the Thames. V Your Committee hay© to report that they, in accordance with the resolution of the Council, met the representatives of the Thames Harbor Board on the 27th inst., when the various points enumerated in the accompanying draft were mutually agreed to. MEMOBANpuM of Agbeement made and entered into this day of • 1878 Between the Thames Harbour Board (hereinafter called :. " the said Board ") of the one part and the Mayor Councillors and Burgesses of the Borough of Thames (hereinafter, called/the said Council") of the other part Witnesseth that the parties hereby agree as follows - 1. The said Council agree to lend and advance to the said Board the sum of Four hundred and eighty pounds in Bums of not more than Eighty pounds weekly from the date hereof. , \ , 2. The said Council agree to mske such advance for one year without interest bint in the event of the said principal sum not being-repaid within one year from the date hereof the same shall bear interest at the rate of eight pounds per centum per annum p-yable half yearly on the j day of aad the day of [ in each year after the said first year, i 3. The said Council agree to allow their Foreman of Works to superintend the works upon which the said sum of four hundred and eighty pounds is from time to time expended by the said board. 4. The said Board hereby agrees with the said Council to pay interest upon the said principal sum at the rate and on ihe days and times mentioned and set forth in paragraph two of this agreement. : 5. And the said Board hereby agree with the said Council that they the said Board will at any time after they shall have obtained a title thereto upon the request of the said Council but at the cost of the said Board make execute and give to the said Council a legal mortgage or other good and valid security over that portion of land known as " The Thames Foreshore " in such form and with such powers and other provisions as the said Council may require for securing the payment of the said: principal sum of Four hundred and eighty pounds with interest: at the rate aforesaid and in the meantime until such mortgage-and other security shall be made executed and given as aforesaid the said Board do hereby charge all their right title and interest of in and to the said land known as " The Thames Foreshore " with the payment to the said Council of the sum of Four, hundred and eighty pounds and interest at the rate aforesaid. •..■■ .
