Monday. A land furore is raging herel Speculate s. fr^m Dunedin. and Cliristchurch are buying up at fancy prices. A great deal of land, both Crown and private, < has changed hands during the past week, and it is Baid that the Waste Lands Board will be deluged with applications this week. As a rule buyers are agreeably surprised with the quality of tbeland.i 'The steamer Oreti grounded whilst eri« tering New. River yesterday afternoon, and remained hard and fast all.night on a mud bank. She did not get off this -morning, and is reported as being seriously injured. A report came to the police this morning at Waikawa, that a man named Welsh was said to have been killed by his wife. The particulars are not to hand. *
