The wool season is fast, setting in. Some of the early clips have arrived. Just now there is much competition amongst all the colonies for the carriage and ship* merit of the river-borne wool.
George Eignold opens in " Henry V." at the Theatre EoyaLon Saturday. Creswick has returned, and is playing at the Opera House. The '• Octoroon," with the negro band, is being performed at the Academy of Music and the Princess's.
The new loan is to be for five millions at 4| per cent.

The Victorian Government loan of-five millions includes one million for the pur. chase of the Hobso.n's Bay railway ; two hundred thousand for the new Law. Courts and Parliamentary buildings; and two handred thousand for State, schools. Two millions and a-half are for new railways. -
The last general election cost £9400; the census £12,400.
