KURANUI HILL.
The present appearance of the new lode at the 640 feet level past the Albien shaft is very encouraging. The lode is about 2| feet thick, and is composed of hard, blocky and highly mheralised quartz. The mineral is very coarse, and the stone altogether is not at all bad looking: The manager his tak3n out several trial parcel* during the pa»t fortnight, the results of which, upon the whole, hare been satisfactory, and it has been proved undoubtedly that there is gold on the lode. A parcel of about 15cwt. was crushed some cen days ago for a return of 13dwts, and last'week five small bags full werb treated at the Moanatairi mill for the yield of 3dwts gold. The company's battery it being
kept well employed on tributers' stuff. Rbwe and- party have finished a trial crushing of 10 tons for the yield of 3£ozs gold. Gordon and party have finished a crushing of 8 tons for ttie yield of 26ozs gold.
