DISRAELI'S PROPHECy.
In his novel, " Tancred," Disraeli has one of the characters say of the Eastern question': "I could settle the Eastern question in a month if I were so disposed. The Eastern question is: • Who shall govern the Mediterranean.' " In another nose,!, "Contarina, Fleming," written while lie was a young man, he has his hero say :" I heard my name. The hall was novr darkened. In the distance stood toy father. He placed his arm affection-, ately in mine and said to me : 'My.son, you will be Prime Minister of (here come dot's in number the same as the letters in the word England), and, perhaps, something, greater/ When the book was published the critica agreed that in his hero Disraeli had pictured himself. If so the prophecy has been fulfilled. .
