Shortland Fire Brigade.

The meeting of the above brigade was held at the station last night —Mir J? Bull in the chair.' The principal business Was the election of a Superintendent ' vice Mr J: E. Macdohald; resigned. Mr J. Xeydbn, a life honorary member((who, was present) was proposed, but declined! the office, on the ground that he could not spare the necessary time for the duties. The choice' fell on Mr E." W. Hollis, who was unanimously elected Superintendent and Treasurer. Mr J. Bull and Mr J. Leydon were appointed auditors. . The latter gave a donation to the .Brigade's funds, promised a number of books for the library, and received a xote of thanks. Mr John Davii was elected Secretary. The rules were revised, and after some routine busipen the meeting adjourned.
