Intelligence has been received fro.m the -Northern Wairoa, that the efforts of the Acclimatisation. Society to introduce thei CaliforniaW salmon into the northern rivers are likejy to be successful. Letters hare been received by Mr JVC. Firth from Mr Mitchelson and Captain Lowry, to the effect that young salmon have been seen in large numbers in the Mangakahia and Northern Wairoa rivers. In one case, the engineer of the pilot steam-launch drawing a bucket of water, found in it a young fish 4| inches long, which on examination was pronounced a veritable young salmon. Of course the fish was returned to its native element without loss of time. — Herald.
