NO. 2 THAMES SCOTTISH.

An extra parade for Major Wither*' inspection took place at the dri^l *J}ed,,on Saturday evening, there being ofer- 70 present, under Lieut. Watson. There was a large number of the general public present, manifesting „ the popularity of this splendid young company. On the arrival of, Majors Withers and r Murray and staff, the customary general 5 salute was given, after which , Major, Withers inspected the men. Mr Drill Instructor bchofield then put the men through the < manual exercise, marching, <fee, all of which was done in a highly' satisfactory manner, while the salute would have done credit to a company of regulars. Officers were then called *o the front, and the Inspecting Officer expressed his high gratification at the large muster and the efficiency of the men for the short time they bad been in hand. .He complimented Mr Schofield for the manner in which he drilled the company, and the proficiency they had obtained under his instruction. At the conclusion of the parade the .members of the company adjourned to the lecture, room, where a , meeting was held, Lieut. Watson being in the chair. .Finance and firing committees were'elected, and some other business transacted. We understand that the company will be in uniform in' the course of two months.
