The; House went on with the report oh the Civil Service Act Amendment Bill. Mr De Latour endeavoured to' get a clause inserted to make* all- Besident Magistrates and Clerks of Besident Magistrate's and District Courts appointed before 1866, and who are now, and have been, continuously in the Government service, inclnded-under the: Civill Service Act, 1866. After a good deal 'of discussion, the clause was rejected by 4A to 22, and the bill passed. The other business was tttiimpOrtant.
