It will bo seen from the report of the debate in the House last night after the ten o'clock adjournment that Mr Whisker's KepresentationJßill was withdrawn, and the honorable member for Waikato • has promised to render the AttorneyGeneral all the assistance in his power to make the Government measure introduced to secure Electoral reform as good a measure as possible. Mr Whilaker's bill seemed framed, to accomplish what is ,
generally r<'gnrded as impracticable by most stafesinen, namely tho representation of minorities, and it is now probable j that some of the good poiiits in his . measrro will bo embodied in that I of the Attorney - General, -while the intricacies proposed to' be introduced for securing equal representation, recording and counting of votes, &c, will be rejected. There is, at any rate, more chance of a useful measure of reform now becoming law, as the united sense of the House will be directed to perfecting the Government Bill.
