SESSIONAL GOSSIP.
[By Teleg-eaph.]
(^ROM A COTEESPOKOENT.)
WriLiiN'G-TON, This day,
The Government; will strenuously oppose separation, as tbe ticket on which they got into power was the unity of the colony. They say if separation is desired let Parliament dissolve and appeal to the couutry. I believe separation to be mooted to cast the apple of discord amongst members to assist in a movement to bring Vogel back again.
The Government will' also oppose the resolution of Saunders to be moved to-day that the Counties Act be repealed by moving previous question, and it is stated that the Public Works Statement will be submitted by Macandrew tc-morrow. It will shew earnestness and sincerity of the Government's intentions in regard to Separation and Counties Act. It is rumored that, the' sfatement will be the best ever brought forward, and will surprise (he Country. It is to be hoped that the inferests of the long neglected Thames district has received favorable consideration.
(from anotheb cobeespondent.)
Wellington, This day.
Great attention is being paid to Separation question. Ministers state that there is no foundation for the rumors* The question will be asked in the House without doubt.
The Public Works for the colony are liberal, and for the Thames. Th-3 great fight cf the session will be over the railway schemes.
