There have been several more resignations in" the police force here and at Lyttelton in consequence of the low rate of wages and the new regulations.
The Mayor to>day received a telegram from 'Lord Beaconsfield expressive of thanks for the resolutions passed at a late public meeting.
It is anticipated the Attorney-General will argue the case of the impounded land fund on Tuesday in banco, before Judges Johnston and Williams.
It is proposed to give a series of amateur operatic performances here shortly. " Martha " will be the first opera. Signora Venosta, late of the Italian Opera Troupe, and Harry Towle, are taking the initiative.
