RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT

THIS DAY. (Before W. Fraser, Esq., E.M.) DBTJUKENNESS. Two persons were charged with tM$ offencs. One was on bail, and failing to appear his bail was forfeited. The other appeared, pleaded guilty, and was fined 10s and costs, with the usual alternative. LA.BCENT. Himiona, a Native, was charged withstealing a coat belonging to Taipari from the Shortland Hotel. Defendant pleaded guilty. Mr Bullen stated that the prosecutor, Taipari, had hung the coat in a room in the Shortland Hotel,' and returning he found it missing. The coat was subsequently found in Himiona's possession. Sentenced to three months' imprison* ment, with hard labor. Court adjourned.
