Friday, A motion favoring/ the Southern route of railway was discussed in the County Council, and lost on the casting vote of the ohairman. An amendment was carried urging the Government to construct a line of railway between the East and West Coasts.
The Waipari was got off the beach, and again tendered the Alhambra, taking away the balance of the West Coast cargo. The steamer Maori was also tendered.
Five families of Germans and Italians, and four single Italians, who have been settlers at Johnson's Bay for some time, have left the settlement dis.atisfied, and are giving poor accounts of the place. Ino resident agents of the settlement proceeds to Wellington in a few days. .
