BOAT ACCIDENT.
(To the Editor of the Erening Star:) Sis, —Having reference to a paragraph which appeared in the Thames Advertiser this morning, alluding to the recovery of one of the bodies, I wish to make the following remarks thereon : —ln the first place, the statement that the mud flats were searched from the Piako to* the Waitakaruru rivers by a party in a small boat is not correct. The small boat was sent with one man on board from the gun boat which immediately stood away and left him, and on finding himself thus deserted immediately cmc on board the Two Friends, a fishing boat, and remained there until taken on L^ard the gun boat on her return, so that the coast was not searched as stated. The article in«question further states that, " the information was received from the Miranda telegraph station late last night." Now, the facts' are that the crew of the Two Friends dig* ' covered the body, took it oa board,. brought it to Saortland, and handed it: over to the police, and as they had no communication with any other parties before arriving at Shorlland, the statement that the news was derived through this channel is not correct.—l ato,*&e., Pbtkb "£ BrissoN,
