RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT
THIS DAY.
(Before W. Fraser, Esq., R.M.) ASSAULT.
William More was charged with unlawfully assaulting one Gustave Borman on the 14h.
Defendant pleaded not guilty. Gustave Borman, sworn, deposed—l am an engine driver living at Tararu, and know the defendant. I saw him on the 14th. He had been making a road at Tararu, and in carting up some stuff he broke a culvert I had made to take off the water. I askeii More to give me a plank to make the culvert. He refussd, and I told him unless the culvert was repaired, Mr Raw don would not pass the work. An altercation ensued, and defendant struck me on the face.
Sergeant Fleming deposed to meeting the defendant on the day in question. His face was slightly grazed. Defendant said that Borman had insulted him, and lie bad simply given him a push. fined Is and coats.
