His Worship spoke in. an uncomplimentary manner concerning Mr Rowe at two stages of tlio meeting-^-his first.remarks arising from a question asked by the Secretary as to what should be done about getting the Amendment Bill through the ; House, and ■ statement that nu , delegate had been appointed to look afeer Borough interests at the' Borough i_ ouncil meeting bn the previous day. The second remarks were made after Mr Mennie proposed a resolution, to the effect' that. Mr Bi;odie be entrusted wii.ii the Dill. a,td before the motion was carried.- J?efore leaving the, room the Mayor remarked to me that he bad spoken only in his private tapjityjtndit was not oart of. the business of- the meeting, and should not be reported. I replied that the discu?aion r arose before the carrying of the resolution, and out of a piece of business being discussed by 'the Board. — I am, etc., \., " . Toub Bbpobteb.
