George and party have finished a crushing of 10 loads at the Prince Alfred mill for the satisfactory yield 23ozs sdwts gold. The company's contractors tapped the reef in the low level last, night, and today the lode was cut through. It is 2 feet thick, and is composed of fine looking stone, every indication in which points to its being a good .auriferous reef.
MOANATAIRI. D. McLean and party have finished a crushing of 6 loads at the Prince Alfred mill for the yield of 2ozs 6dwts gold. ONLY CHANCE. A crushing of 10 tons for McClutchy and party yielded s£ozs gold. DON PEDRO. Three loads from Catran's tribute section, crushed at the Kuranui mill, has yielded 25£ozs gold. TWEEDSIDE. A crushing from this piece of ground yielded llozs lldwts gold. . SECOND TRY. A pare 1 of l|ozs gold was banked yesterday from this claim. BOADTCEA. Two tons produced loz 2dwt« gold for Hawkins and party. . PIAKO. There is now no doubt but that the Vanguard reef can be worked remuneratively, as the stuff at Vickery's and the Kuranui mills is going for lOdwtsper ton. As 7dwts will pay, this will leave a good margin of profit, while there is a prospect of its value increasing. The chief drawback to the working of. the Vanguard lode is the great distance the stuff has to be trucked from the face of the shaft, and it would, perhaps, be cheaper in the long run if a shah; were put down near the battery, when the stuff could be almost tipped from the brace to the quartz floor. Kneebone's crushing of 28 loads yielded the excellent return of 43£ozs gold. " PHCENIX. Crushing has been running about a week. The first few days there was a quantity of rubbish put through to sweeten the plates, but the last three days fair grade dirt has b^en going through. The manager retorted, and brought down down the result—six ounces—to-day. CURE. A crushing of 50 tons from this mine has been started at the Prince Alfred mill. It has not had a sufficient run. to say much about it yet. WORSER, A trial crushing for the shareholders has produced 2ozs 19dwts gold.
