WELLINGTON.
This day. The New Zealander this morning cays it is not improbable that the question of revising and consolidating the licensing laws will be left over until next session. The railway from Wellington to Fea* therston will be opened to-morrow, when a special train will run. Municipal Conference—Final Meeting. The final meeting of the Municipal Conference was held this morning, when the following resolutions were passed :— 1. That the Government be requested to introduce an Act, similar to the Brisbane Act, making Insurance Companies liable for half the coat of fire brigades and plant, and making further provision for extinction of fires in municipalities and suburbs. 2. That the members of Conference remaining inWellingtonbe left full powers to take legal advice and any action necessary for giving legislative effect to the recommendations and suggestions of the Conference. 3. That a deputation should wait upon the Government to ascertain if the Government are willing to introduce a bill giving effect to the resolutions and suggestions of the Conference. Hearty votes of thanks were accorded to the Mayor and Corporation of Wellington for the manner they had entertained the de'egates ; also to the Town Clerk. After passing a vote of thanks to the Chairman, the Conference terminated, it being distinctly understood that no permanent Municipal League existed, and that this was only a meeting to consider and suggest amendments to Acts relating to Municipalities. Thursday. Mr J. Dransfield, the Mayor of Wellington, entertained at dinner last night the delegates at the Municipal Conference. About seventy guests were invited, including His Excellency the Governor a::d IkiZin.'sters.
