Thursday, 10 p.m. The House resumed at 7.30 to-nigbt. BILLS BEAD. The Savings Bants Profits Bill was brought down from the Legislative Council and read a first time. The Sale of Food and Drugs Act Amendment Bill, and the Ellesmere and Forsyth [Reclamation and Akaroa Railway Bill, underwent some slight amendment in committee, aHd were reported. The Reprint Statues Bill was passed. NEWMARKET TOLLS. On the motion of Mr O'Rorke, the Government promised a return of the tolls collected at the Newmarket toll-bar from the day of the Abolition of the ProTice of Auckland^) the 30th of June last, such return tt> show what amount of this revenue was expended, and in what districts. LAND PUBCHABES. Mr Woolcock was promised a return of the amount of land alienated from the Crown during the past year, the amount purchased in quantities over 360 acres, and the number of purchases above that quantity. SECOND READINGS. The second reading of the Southland Boys and Girls High Schools Act Amendment Bill, the Waitaki High School Bill, and the Oamaru Waterworks Bill was proceeded with, and the House adjourned at 9.35.
