Early this morning a Customs officer, accompanied by a constable, visited each brewery in Christchurch and suburbs t« take stock in connection with the new duty on beer, causing great consternation among the brewers, who did not see the report of the Treasurer's speech till late in the day. Conflicting opinions are expressed as to the various alterations in the Customs tariff.'
