HERALD MILL.
Yesterday crushing was stopped for the purpose of giving the mil the repairs which are much needed, and which have been intended for some time back. The battery will be entirely renovated, *as three out of the four stamper boxes are to be replaced with new ones made at Messrs A. and Gt. Price's foundry. New shafting, stampers, cams, etc, have been procured, and the alterations are now going on. ~ Some alterations are to be a ade in the working of the berdans, whereby the waterwheel will be assisted with power from the turbine shaft, a small pulley having been fitted on it for that purpose. When these alterations are completed the efficiency of this favorite battery wiJl be considerably enhanced. It is expected that it will take a fortnight to complete the repairs. I may mention that during the last few weeks the tables have been re plated. The repairs are being done under the direction of the manager, Mr D. Henderson.
