THE MAYOR AT THE HARBOR BOARD MEETING.
(To the Editor of the Evening Star.) Sib, —I was astonished and annoyed this morning on' reading your report of yesterday's Harbor Board meeting, to find that the Mayor had said that at the Council meeting the previous evening | there had been a deal of dishonest talk, but tie had not opened his mouth. Howwise and disceret. What a pity such good sense had not been shown by him at the Harbour meeting also. How can we expect a public body to work amicably and get any good done if its members are to find themselves spoken of in this way. If the Mayor bad tried to deprive bur contemplated instructions to our member of any weight, and prevent their being cared for, he could not have arranged it better. Surely it is time we understood the folly of pulling in so many directions at once, when-we should be united. If the Mayor was correctly reported, I con* 9ider he owes an explanation to the Council.—Yours, &c., James Benshaw, August 3rd, 73. - ,
