THE WEEK.

During the past week two important mining company meetings have been held in Auckland. The first of these was the meeting of the Thames Gr.M.Co., which, however, lapsed for want of a ■ quorum. The reports prepared were of a most satisfactory nature,. the balance-sheet showing that £4,101 had been paid in dividends during the year, while a reserve fund of £30C0 had been made, and there was a balance of £252 15s 8d in hand. During the year £807 10s 6d worth of mining shares had been purchased, and £276 4s 6d worth sold. The profitable result of the y ir's operations was chiefly due to the dividends paid by the Alburnia and Moanatairi companies, the total amount of dividends'received having been £5567 8» 6d chiefly from these two companies. The second meeting was that of the Waiotahi company. The balancesheet, showed the toLl receipts to have been £7,098 13s, and the expenditure £836 15s 8d less, A dividend of £600 had been declared. The manager's repert was a full compendium of the work done in the mine during the year. The total gold yield for the year was 2547 ounces valued at £6940. Since the end of the financial year a further dividend of 3s per share absorbing £900 has been made, which leaves the present balance at £415.
