The reply from Lord Beaconsfield to the address of congratulation says he is touched by their sympathy and honoured by their remembrances.
Intelligence from New Guinea says the gold prospectors are all down with the fever, and three deaths are already reported. The party are still pushing up the Nolon in hopes of finding payable gold, if they can only overcome the dense scrub. The colour of gold has been found, but nothing more.
