Messrs Sander and Sons, of Sandhurst, are the manufacturers of a new medicament, which is essentially Australian, and which is abstracted from the gum tree, so well known to be possessed of some highly sanative properties. This preparation is known as Eucalypti Oil. It must not be confounded with the "01 Euc," which represents more oil like turpentine than an essential oil, and is not soluble in spirits of w,ine, as it ought to be, if of an essential oil character, and consequently is far inferior in value to Messrs Sander and Sons' preparation as a medicament. The Eucalypti Oil is at present being tested in the hospitals of the cities and principal towns of Victoria, and so far the genuineness of the article would appear to be generally acknowledged. About a year ago a small quantity of the oil was forwarded by the manufacturers to one of the universities of Germany, and the testimony from that institution is to the effect that it surpasses ev,ery other known remedy for wounds, burns, bruises, cancerous inflammation, and every disease of the skin; and is also useful for sore throats, affections of the lungs, and kindred diseases; and in case of fever, or other infectious or contagious complaints, a few drops of it sprinkled on the floor tends to clear the air.—Mortlake Despatch.
Atf expression frequently heard in the shop of Mr WItKES, Watchmaker and Jeweller, of Shortland, is : Sir, you have bo great a selection of Earrings and Brooches that I do not know which to choose.
