The New Caledonia Massacre.

A terrible revolt of natives has occurred in the districts of Ourail and Boularpari, distant 60 aid 90 miles from here. On 25th the first "intimation of the outburst reached Noumea. It was reported that a " pos. o " of five gensda* mes on the river Eoa, near Ourail, had been attacked, end all fire murdered. Soon a general murderous pssault upon the " Colons" farmers and every white resident i i the neighborhood of OuraU was telegraphed. — Sudre *was dispatched with trocps to the scene of the conflict. On Wednesday news arrived that the environs of Ourail were ;n flames, twenty-one whites were known to be massacred, and the revolt was spreading towards BoaLrpari, thirty miles nearer Noumea. On Thursday morning intelligence came of tie massacre of Colons and other residents in Boulapari and surrounding districts. Fugitives began to arrive in town, and the excitement was intense, verging during the day upon a panic. Mornt-.d civilians armed by the Government a rived to fiud the place :n asbes, corpses lying in every direction, cut and hacked as savages delight to do. Family after family are found murdered in hraps, no mercy havi lg been s'lown to men, women or children. A treac'ie >us surprise was fie lot of all. Canala natives have taken up avals against the revolted tribe, head d by the great chiefs Gelimaha and Kaka. The military gensdarmes and a large number of armed civilians are in pursuit, and 150 Oanala natives are aiding to surround them. News from Boularpari states that the natives made an attack upon a band of convicts, seeing them protect: dby four sailors only. The convicts were -all brought in but one, and he vras killed, and a surveillante wounded. ri'he j sailors attacked and killed eight natives. | Information has been leceived of the utter destruction of the large village of Narai by our men. Eugene, a friendly chief of the Paita district, captured six revolted blacks and delivered them to t!»e military, by whom they were executed.
