MOANATAIRI.

In the face of the tunnel cross-cut this morning there were indications that a change may shortly be expected. Quartz stringers are crossing the face, so that there is a chance of the lode being cut shortly. Nothing else fresh has transpired in the mine since the Writing of; the mine manager's report given below :— 150-feet level—The drive west on No. 9 reef has been extended 32? feet during the fortnight, and is still bending south. The reef is 18 irches thick, showing good colors of gold, and the country is of a mineral bearing character.' The south cross-cut has been driven 25 feet during fortnight; intersecting stringers of quartz, but nothing of 'notice. In the stope east, between two slides, I do not think the reef is the same as in winze, but is another lode going, up into hanging wall. This will be proved as the workings advance. The stuff is of low grade, but in places contains good patches of mundic, showing indications of gold. 80-feet level—No. 2 reef, as driven on west, is much split up, but occasionally shows a little gold. No. 9 reef westward shows no change, and all stopes throughout the mine are without change to report. The north cross-cut tunnel level still continues hard, 11 feet having been driven this week. The rock is so hard that three or four holes drilled in eight hours is all the machine can do. We are now into this "dyke" 26 feet/and I am hoping daily to cut through it. The machinery is all in good workiag order.-—! am, &c, KOBEBT COMEK. r

Sawyer and party's crushing yielded 4ozs 13dwts gold.
