BLUFF.
Thursday. Swamping of a Boat—Six Men Drowned. The s.a. Maorij which arrived from the West Coast this morning reports arriving at Big Bay on the morning of the 16th, whore H. Fisher, a digger, reported that on the 13th of June, when shooting along the beach to tho north ward, he found a tent and blanket at out four miles up the harbour, and further on found the dead body of a stranger. He returned to the camp and obtained assistance, and at daylight nent mcmi g returned to the scene of (he accident, ar»d found the bodies of Andrew H. Williamson and James DaJziel. He remov d the bodies above high water mark, ; d nported the circumstances- to Cap!..in Brently, of Martin's Bay. A search party was organised, and the bodies of Jeremiah J)alziel, W. Gell, and John Gabriel, weie founds• They- buried the bodies, and made a further ssarch, bat without success. It appears the deceased party had sailed from Jackson's Bay in an open boat with a quantity of tools, deeply laden, and had been swamped on the reef outside Big Bay. Gell leaves a wife and four children; Gabriel also a wife and family in Nova Scotia. Cronspaki, whose body was not recovered, leaves a wife and a large family. The stranger is supposed to be D. Branschon.
