The Governor has been .pleased to alter the designation of the No 2 Company Hauraki Eifle Volunteers to tho Hauraki Engineer Volunteers. Y?e hear that souio ladies purpose showing their admiration of tbe gallant Thames Scottish' Volunteers by a presentation of handsome " colors'' at no distant date. . The advisability of forming the Thames Volunteers into a battalion for administrative purposes is likely to be considered shortly. On dit that Major Cooper will be entertained at a banquet by the Volunteer Officers before he leaves the Thames District on relinquishing his command. The monthly inspection of the Thames Rifle Bangers will take place on the evening of Thursday next, after which the company's belt, Mr Aitken's watch, and other.prizes won at the last two compete tiohs-iwill bo presented to the respective winners, Mrs A. Aitken having consented: to make the presentation. It is expected that the Hon. Chaplain and Hon.
