Governor has referred to Ministers your petition of the !2Oth ultimo, praying that the District of Parawai may not be incorporated with the Borough of Thames ; and 1 am directed by the Colonial Secretary to inform you that as the petition is signed by not less thnn one third of the resident householders of the district (see subsection 3 of section 25 Municipal Corporations Act, 1876,) His Excellency will not be advised to. incorporate the district with the Borough.—l have the honor to bej, Gentlemen, your most obedient servant, G. S. Cooper.'—A. J. Ailom, Esq., J.P., aqd others, Parawai, Thames."

Sir George Grey has referred your Worship's letter to the Colonial Secretary, by whom I am directed to inform yoa that the re-survey of the Thames mines will be the first work of the Geological Survey Department for next season.—l. have the honor to be, Sir, Your most obedient serrant, G.
