A supplementary Gazette issued to-day notifies the appointment of Sir George Grey as Commissioner of Customs and Stamps, and the Hon. -Mr Ballance as Colonial Treasurer. . The cable agreement, referring to a reduction of the charges on the New Zealand cable, was executed this morning by the Hons. Messrs Burns and Fisher, and Colonel Glover. The Hon. Mr Burns intends returning direct to Sydney, per Rotorua, after a short visit to Otago and Canterbury. ■ s . i In the case of Doherty v. the Wellington, Education Board for wrongful dismissal and libel, damages £2000, the jury this evening returned a verdict for. plaintiff for £50, being three months' salary.
