FOOTPATHS, &c.
■^To the Editor of tbe Evening Stab.) Sib,—The thanks of this community are due to you for the stand you have made re footpaths in the principal streets of the Borough. Borough Councillors seem to lose sight of one fact, viz., that persons who live in the main street contribute very largely to the revenue of the Borough; also, as you have before pointed out, these main streets are largely used by the general public. Therefore it is not fair to ask them to contribute one-third, or half the cost of repairs in addition to the heavy rates they pay. In short, it is desirable that some new blood should be introduced in the Borough Council at the forthcoming election. I should think burgesses have had enough of wishy washy Councillors, who, can only see the length, of their noses—lam, &c., • BUBGESS. Thames, July sth, 1878. P.S. Cr Kenshaw is very fondof quoting what other local bodies don't do, but forgets to say that they do see that the footpaths, in 'the most important streets are by some means made reasonably passable. \ • ■'.■
