GOLDEN PAH (COROMANDEL).

The crushing of 21 tons for this mine at the Herald mill is shaping fairly, and retorting will take place this evening or to-morrow. Although the cost of the conveyance of the stuff from Coromandel, wharfage dues, &c, can hardly leave a margin of profit, the Golden Pah company, n«t possessing a battery of their own, area forced to take this step. The Union Beach battery, which is near the mine, is closed to them by the directors of that company, and all the other mills are situated at such a distance from the mine, and tLeir charges are so high, that the only course open to the directors was not to crush at all or ssnd their quartz elsewhere. It would be advisable for them to purchase a battery of their owjn.;'.
