Tuesday. In the Supreme Court the following sentences were passed:—Eobert Gardner, for larceny, nine months ; Henry Page South, larceny, six months; Thomas George Smith, incendiarism, four years; Henry Sutherland, larceny, two yerrs; James Fare, forgery, two years; and William Eussell, larceny, was acquitted. This concludes the calendar.
It is contemplated to form a company with a capital of £100,000, to establish steam communication with the peninsula side of the harbor.
A document is about to be circulated for signature expressing confidence in Mr Bathgate's administration of justice, and attributing the present dispute to jealousy on the part of the lawyers. Henry Driver will probably contest the vacancy for Eosslyn. The case of C. E. llaughton v. Eeed and Fenwick, appears in the list of common jury cases for Monday next.
