CHRISTCHURCH.

This day. At the conference of Municipal, and County Council delegates last evening it was resolved—" That in the opinion of this Conference the existing local bodies should undertake the distribution of charitable aid until the Government take measures in Parliament for the permanent transfer." The resolution was strongly opposed by the Chrktchurch delegate, who urged that the Government shorid not be relieved of the charitable ad distribution until permanent aricngementn and subsidies had been made by legislative enactment ; otherwise there would be great trouble afterwards to get it done.
