Sib, —In yo«jr iai night's issue, I find the Works Committee has found a champion who takes upon himself to answer, I suppose to his satisfaction, my letter that appeared in your columns on Friday last. Do you remember, sir, the old prorerb— " A little learning ;s a dangerous thing." I don't remember whose old cross-cut the above is, but I think it's applicable in this instance; and if he does not mind his P's. and Q's. it will be the death of him; of course, politically, I mean. His letter reminds me of a piece of plum duff I ate on the streets of Grahamsiown a short time ago, well mixed with very bad spice and sandy flour. In the first place your correspondent seems to have forgotten how,to spell his norn de plume, but perhaps, Mr Editor, his intention was to have written it down "Midden fieap" instead of " Uriah Heap."^ Really, sir, I can't see anything in my last letter that should bring the wrath of "Uriah Heap down upon my devoted head, as my intentions were strictly honest. I was simply trying to help you to get the Works Committee to mend their bad ways. But, to conclude, I think the pa&Ae ought to thank you for bringing the -Works Committee to a sense of their duty, as I saw yesterday several mud scrapers scraping the streets; and " Uriah Heap " should not raise any objection to this step, as, if I am not mistaken, I recognised him amongst them. —I am &c, • '■■".,' ■■■■. ■■; ■ ; ■ ■--■ VIAIOB. \
