(To the Editor of the Ereuing Star.)
Sib,—l last nigbt saw a letter in jour columns signed " A Member of a Friendly Society/ and very much regret that there in even one such member belonging to any Friendly Society on the Thames who if capable of making an unjustifiable attack upon my qualifications under the pretence of doing so in the interests of Friendly Societies, without the manliness to append; his natne. The letters published by me » few days ago, signed by T. M. Wayland, Registrar, Auckland, and Dr Philson, will, I think, b» satisfactoiy evidence to auy reasonable member of Friendly Societies, without my answering anonymous correspondence -*- knowing as I do thut suoh letters only tend to recommend, me to all sensible persons, as no duly quali* fied medical man need fear anything from an unqualified practitioner, the law being sufficiently powerful fo prevent such from enter* ing into competition with tbe qualified,—. Your, &0., R. H. T. Gilbbbt, M.8.0.8., England (Registered Jan., 1861, Imperial Reg.). Ma.y street, Thames, 22nd June '78.
